The Eco Shift Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

After a week of using the products, here is my review of the Eco Shift shampoo and conditioner bars.

As much as it makes me feel remorseful, I admit that I could not totally veer away from single-use plastics yet, let alone having a plastic-free life. It will take a long time to change habits and to find substitutes, but it is something that I really want to strive for, one step at a time.

Fish is naturally rich with Omega-3 fatty acids and these essential fats can benefit our heart health and improve our other health conditions. Sadly, recent studies tell us that the seafood we eat on a regular basis has microplastics or tiny pieces of plastics which became smaller enough to be eaten by sea animals. Based on this UN report in 2017, there are more than 51 trillion microplastic particles in the sea, more than 500 times the number of stars in the Milky Way.

At this rate, if we continue our actions (or inaction), it is estimated that there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans by the year 2050.

If this is not alarming, I do not know what it is.

I made the shift two weeks ago by getting the Eco Shift shampoo and conditioner bars. I did not know what to expect because I have been so used to using hair products in plastic that I honestly do not know what’s in it for me with these bars. But, I have been loving it so far!

The Eco Shift produces personal care essentials, such as soaps, shampoos, and conditioners. All of their products have natural ingredients and are free from sulfate, paraben, cruelty, and plastic (needless to say). Furthermore, all are made in the Philippines (#supportlocal).

Their essential bars have many variants, each is targeting certain areas of concern. I ordered a bundle of shampoo and conditioner from their website for 400.00 (+85.00 for shipping fee). Each costs 220.00 if bought separately.

They say that the Ray of Sunshine shampoo bar is good for people who experience excessive hair fall, like me. After two weeks of using, I honestly did not notice any change in that area, I still have a lot as of this writing. I also do not like its strong, medicine-ish scent (like Dr. Kauffman Sulfur Soap kind of smell). But one worth mentioning, though, is I think it helps prevent dandruff. From the day I used it up until now, I have little to no dandruff.

On the other hand, I cannot stress enough how I looooooove the Fresh as Morning conditioner bar. It smells heavenly. It makes my hair feel so soft after taking a bath. Also, I notice that it does not trigger back-acne as I rinse it away (yay for being sulfate-free!), unlike with Creamsilk.

True to their mission, I received the entire package and the individual bars in recycled materials. However, the delivery took too long and I am not sure why. But overall, I am quite satisfied. Though, I might try the other variants, especially for the shampoo bar.

This is my one little step and I am not looking back. I will stick to this mighty bars for as long as I can. I hope Mother Nature is pleased.

It goes without saying that our beautiful Earth, our only home, needs saving. Take that one tiny leap because you, too, can help turn the tide on plastic.
