Affordable Airbnb place in Baguio City
To stay in an affordable Airbnb place in Baguio was the best bet than to check into a hotel. Thankfully, I was able to score for one and this is my first experience, so I thought I might as well write a review about it.
Baguio has always been one of my favorite quick getaways because of its proximity to Metro Manila and… okay… its cold weather. It does not fail to give me that I-am-in-other-cold-country feelz without actually leaving the beloved Philippines.
For those who are not aware of what is Airbnb, it is an online marketplace that allows people to host guests by renting out their properties at a certain amount. Travelers can opt to lease the entire place, or a private room with shared common spaces, or a hotel room, or a shared room. One of its advantages is its price, which is a little cheaper than a normal hotel would usually charge. Also, it is very easy to book as long as you have a verified account on Airbnb, its app, and an internet connection.
A few days before the date of the trip, I booked Michael Ken’s unit, the affordable Airbnb place in Baguio, for 3 days and 2 nights.
Things to commend:
1. The Moldex Residences is situated along Marcos Highway. So if coming from Manila, the main buses will pass by this area before going to the city proper. Visitors can alight from the bus in front of the property. Moreover, the place is overall safe because it has 24-hour security.
2. The rate is a cheap deal. We got each night at 1,800 pesos. Caveat: the place is quite far from the city proper. While PUJs and taxis are available outside the property, going to the downtown in a public vehicle could be quite a challenge. Waiting for an unoccupied cab or for jeepneys with a vacant seat could rather be a bish sometimes.
3. The owner is accommodating and prompt in responding to our queries and requests.
4. The room is stylish, and I love the digital fireplace!
5. The balcony has a nice view. Perfect for drinking hot chocolate (or coffee) upon waking up.
6. The Wifi connection is fast.
Things to improve:
1. The owner may want to re-consider their pest control procedures. We had to kill a number of small roaches, which were all over the place, during our stay.
2. The bedclothes, pillows, and towels had bad smells.
3. The doorknob was broken when we were there.
Overall Rating: 3/5
In general, this Airbnb place is okaaaaay. I am a germophobe and it’s needless to say that cleanliness always takes precedence. I’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars despite its cheap rate because the presence of small roaches gravely irked me. Over the years, I formed the exasperating habit of haunting these pesky creatures until I get them out of my place or I get rid of them–and that’s what I mostly did when we were in that unit. But then again, as they say, you get what you pay for. 😛
