How to Resolve PLDT’s Bad Password

One of the first challenges we experienced in using PLDT is the “Error: Bad Password!”. In this post, I am going to share some of the things you can do to resolve PLDT’s Bad Password.

We recently got a new internet plan from PLDT which I have written a review for, and you can read it here.

I encountered this error when I tried to access the Admin Dashboard or Modem Router Login via 192.168.1.1. though I was 101% sure that I entered the correct credentials especially my password, but for some weird reasons, I could not get through.

Like you, I also searched the web for some ways to resolve this PLDT’s Bad Password dilemma. I found this very detailed post which I thought is very helpful, however, unfortunately, it did not work for me. I attempted to access the Dashboard using my phone and my laptop to no avail. I also tried plugging and unplugging the modem to, sort of, “refresh” the unit. But all of these were futile. My last resort was to call the PLDT hotline because I was a little desperate already, but I know that in doing that I have to bring with me a gazillion amount of patience in waiting for an available agent who can assist me.

What I want to do is to access the Admin Dashboard but I could not because of the persistent “Error: Bad Password”, so I knew that in order for me to iron things out, I have to reset my credentials/ password.

You know what, only one thing worked—-restarting the modem itself. I cannot believe it! It seems like a no-brainer solution—-and, to be honest, it did not even cross my mind—-but it actually worked!

If you are encountering the same issue, you can try the following steps:

  1. Get your WiFi modem/ router.
  2. Look for the tiny “RESET” button at the back of your modem.
  3. Prod/ poke the hole using a sharp object, like the tip of the pen, until the modem restarts.
  4. Using your device, check your WiFi names in your available networks if these have reset to the default Wireless SSID (e.g. “PLDTHOMEFIBRxxxxx” or “PLDTHOMEFIBR5Gxxxxx”.
  5. Connect your device to the default Wireless SSID and entered the default passwords.
  6. Once your device is connected, a window that asks for your Admin, 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHZ passwords will pop up.
  7. Enter your desired passwords, and voila, you will be redirected to the Admin Dashboard!
  8. You can now change your Wireless SSID and set other Admin rules.

It was our silver bullet and I hope this will do wonders for you, too. But if all else fails, call the hotline. 😉
