Itinerary and Reviews on Thunderbird Resorts Rizal
Who would’ve thought that there is a paradise two hours away from Metro Manila? Well, the scenic views of Laguna de Bay and the Manila skyline greeted us when we got to Thunderbird Resorts in Binangonan Rizal, our home for the weekend. Here are my itinerary and reviews on Thunderbird Resorts Rizal.
I was constantly in awe of the very picturesque, laid-back sights of this resort. I even forwent filters for the landscapes just because they are already too beautiful to be altered. So, what you’ll see is exactly what I saw.
Thunderbird Resorts provides hotel-casino services and they have two locations in the Philippines: Rizal and La Union.
First off, going to the resort won’t be a problem as they offer shuttle services from key locations.
How to get there:
Part of the accommodation that I availed was the free shuttle service from Ever Gotesco Mall in Ortigas Extension, Pasig. To get to Ever Gotesco Mall, take the bus bound for Taytay, Rizal (bus terminal is in front of Robinsons Galleria, Ortigas).
The only problem that I encountered with the shuttle service was the driver. He was very rude. I tried to occupy the seat behind his but he arrogantly told me not to take it because he’ll recline his seat so he can doze while waiting for other patrons. When I arrived at the resort and I got off the van, I unintentionally forgot to close the car door. He honked his horns repeatedly (it was like his way of telling me that I forgot to shut the goddamn door)
The accommodation:
I got the Deluxe Room at their special discounted rate (35% off 7,000 per night).
It already includes:
Free shuttle service back and forth between the resort and Manila.
Buffet Breakfast
Php 300 worth of slot machine free credit
Free 30-minute Archery session or one-hour biking or one-hour use of their KTV Room. (I chose the Archery session)
The room looks very classy and spacious. It has TV-LED/HD, coffee and tea-making kit, in-room electronic safety box, hair blower, and bathtub. They got soft mattresses and their bed linens/ pillows smelled fresh. The bed was humungous for a petite like me but I ain’t complaining :p. Room’s Air Conditioning worked just fine. Other add-ons were the complimentary bottled water, the usual hotel’s vanity kits, and high-speed wifi connection (I did not know that such speed exists. It was too fast that I had to keep up with it. :D). However, the shower was slightly broken and the bathroom’s tiles are already slightly corroded. Nonetheless, I think the Deluxe Room that I got was a real deal.
After I settled my things in my room, I had an Archery session. I was accompanied and coached by one of their employees (who was very nice, by the way).
After the session, I did a little strolling around the premises.
When I got back to the pool area, the infinity pool seemed very inviting. So, I plunged.
After a while, I got to see one thing that I rarely see in the Jungle–the beautiful sunset!!!
They got Jacuzzi!!!
After enjoying the perfect sunset+infinity pool, I headed to Olives Restaurant (one of the resort’s restaurants). They serve very expensive food. I ordered Adobo and Liempo but the price was not worth it. I had to order an additional Classic Club Sandwich as I was not satisfied with their rice meal. Also, the restaurant’s staff was not attentive. I had to call them for a number of times for the water refill, tissue, and bill but they charge 10% of the total bill for the service charge. *sigh*
As soon as I finished my food, I went to Fiesta Casino. I redeemed the Php 300 worth of slot machine free credit and I used it up as soon as I can because I really can’t bear the smell—smell of the cigarette smoke, alcohol and body odors. I won Php 200 and I cashed it in and headed back to my room.
I woke up at 7:30 on Sunday and I headed to the Olives Restaurant for the free buffet breakfast. The choices were limited but tasted okay. I liked the Tinapa and corned beef. I didn’t have the chance to dip in the pool again because I had to catch the 10:00 am shuttle service going back to Manila.
At 10:00 am, we were hitting the road.
This staycation in Thunderbird Resorts – Rizal is perhaps the best weekend of this year yet. Here’s to more of this!
